
Note the "alligator" texture on this bud. Bud Blast starts as a drooping of the bud and a narrowing of the stem between the bud and the main stem (or spike) of the orchid. This cuts off the flow of water and nutrients to the bud. The bud dries, loses its sheen, and wrinkles start to appear on its surface as shown in the photo above. Once bud blast has progressed this far, it is only a matter of time before the bud drops off the stem.
